The parent in me often wonders how much Addison really understands about what dad and mom are doing as we are raising support to move to South Africa and work with orphans to bring hope through the Gospel.
I know at three she doesn’t get it but it is so incredible when God peels back the curtain just a bit and to hear in her own words the calling, passion, and desire of our hearts. We have gotten three of these glimpses over the past three months!
While we were recently presenting our ministry at a local church, while watching one of our Bethesda DVD’s, Addy tugged on my shirt sleeve and said loud enough for everyone in the row ahead and behind us, “Daddy, the kids, they’re waiting for us.” I had to quickly pull it together to then get up and finish our presentation.
Our second glimpse has almost been a daily request for the past three months, and one that we are more than happy to do. Addy often asks to, “See the Africa kids” which means she wants to see the music video of “Kings and Queens” by Audio Adrenaline. It is her favorite song and mine too. You can watch it by clicking on the link.
Our most recent view into her little heart and mind came Friday at lunch. Addy was at the table ready to eat while Kate was getting food ready for Mackenzie. Addy picked her three prayer stick and recognized that she pulled our prayer stick for Bethesda. As she prayed for her lunch she prayed, “Thank you Jesus for the kids in Africa. Help them not be sad because they don’t have a mommy or daddy.”
I love seeing the heart God is growing in the life of Addison!Categories: Blog
